Abstract
345,937. Spinning-spindle apparatus. BENSON, A. L., 28, Cowgate, Dundee. Nov. 28, 1929, No. 36443. [Class 120 (ii).] A drag device for bobbins which applies a drag proportional to the weight of the bobbin and yarn comprises a spring-anchored rotatable seating member on which the bobbin rests, and a pair of brake blocks mounted on parallel bars connected to the seating member, the brake blocks being pressed on to diametrically opposite portions of the bobbin flange in accordance with the degree of rotation of the seating member. The bobbin 7 rests on a rotatable seating member having an upturned flange 8 to which the parallel bars 10 are attached. As the weight of the bobbin increases, the member 8 tends to rotate, and so displaces the bars 10 and presses the brake blocks 13 on to the bobbin flange 7. The bars 10 embrace guide posts 11 and are attached to the lifter rail by springs 12.
