Abstract

345,839. Venturi apparatus. WATSON, F. M. and GUEST & CHRIMES, Ltd., Don Street, Rotherham. April 15, 1930, No. 11917. [Classes 69 (i) and 135.] A venturi tube 2; is of substantially smaller diameter than the. pipe. 1 in which it is placed, and is supported by pipes 3, 4, connected to the smaller and larger diameters of the venturi tube respectively. The venturi tube may be placed in a byepass of the main pipe which may be provided with a shut-off valve at each end. In a modification, (Fig. 3 not shown), the supporting pipes 3, 4, may pass through a removable cover on the main pipe, and in another modification, Fig. 4, the venturi tube 2 may be mounted on a support 7 provided with trunnions 7a, 7b, so that the venturi tube may be turned to reverse the flow through it to flush out any obstruction. The device is. applicable for actuating a fluid flow meter or a valve.
