Abstract

345,731. Rotary cement kilns. JORGENSEN, M. VOGEL-, 24, B³lowsvej, Copenhagen. Jan. 21, 1930, No. 2129. [Class 51 (ii).] In a rotary kiln for burning cement the total inside area in the case of a dry process kiln, or the area from the evaporating and preheating zone to the discharge end in the case. of a kiln for the wet process, is made at least 120 times as great, as the cross sectional area at normal diameter measured inside the lining. The increased surface area may be obtained by increasing the length of the kiln, by increasing the diameter in the sintering zone, and preferably also in the transition zone between the sintering and calcining zones, or by splitting up the calcining zone, and preferably also the preheating zone, into a number of separate tubes. For the dry process the charge may be moistened and formed into lumps or briquettes, and in the wet process a part of the water content of the slurry may be removed before it is fed to the kiln. Stirring and heat exchange devices which move the material without whirling it up may be fitted in the preheating and calcining zones, and means may be provided for forming an accumulation of material at the beginning of the calcining zone.
