Convention date, March 23, 1929. [Class 36.] In an oil-filled cable of the type in which expansion and contraction of the oil is compensated by one or more series of gas-filled cushions arranged within the cable outside the electric field, each series of cushions is formed from a continuous tubing which is subdivided into gastight chambers separated by stoppers or throttled portions. The Figure shows a high-tension cable having a hollow conductor 4 containing an elastic tubing 1 filled with an inactive gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide, the tubing being subdivided into gastight chambers by tied joints 2.
