[Class 100 (ii).] Rotary machines; set-off, preventing; inking- apparatus.-A rotary printing-machine for printing multi-colour perfected impressions is constructed with two impression cylinders 13, 14 mounted in frames 11, 12 on a baseplate 21, and printing- cylinders 15, 16 mounted in the frame 11, print on one side of the web 41, and printing-cylinders 17 .. 20 mounted in the frame 12 print on the reverse side of the web. During the perfecting impression set-off is prevented by a web 96 which is unwound from a roll 104, and after being looped around the cylinder 14 is wound up on a roll 103 the spindle of which is guided in a slotted bracket 115. The roll 103 is supported by rollers 106, 107, is guided by rolls 108, 109, 110, and is driven by the rolls 106, 107 so as to have the same linear speed as the web 41. The web 41 is unwound from a roll 63 or 64 mounted in supports 57, 58 on columns 56, and is guided by rollers 71 .. 75 under a roller platform 42. From the first impression cylinder 13, the web is guided by rollers 77, 78, 79 to the impression cylinder 14, and after the final impressions the web is passed over guide rollers 81, 82, is pulled by drawrolls 83, 84, and is cut into sheets by cylinders 85, 86. The cut sheets are passed by tapes 127 to a collecting cylinder 87, and groups of collected sheets are fed to grippers 88 of a chain delivery 89 comprising chains 90 passing over sprockets 91, 92. The grippers 88 deposit the sheets on a pile 134 which is lowered automatically. The pile table is supported by columns 118, 119. The columns 119 are spaced sufficiently far from the columns 56 to permit a truck with fresh rolls to be wheeled into position to replace the spent rolls. Spaces 146, 147, 148 are also provided in order to permit of access to the parts of the machine. The inking-rollers for the printing-cylinders are mounted in laterally adjustable frames 45,46,47 which are movable by rack-andpinion mechanism into the spaces 146, 147, 148, to permit of access to the plate and impression cylinders. The frames 45, 46, 47 move over roller platforms 42, 43, 44. The inking-rollers are fitted with means to regulate the ink supply to the plate cylinders.
