[Class 61 (ii).] A device for checking employees' work consists of a hand tool comprising two members 12, 15 of substantially U cross section pivoted at 14 the side-pieces 15a of the member 15 having cutting edges 26 and carrying the block 18 having detachable duplicate printing plates 21 separated by the cutting edge 23 to cooperate with the block 19 having plates 24 and cutting edge 25 and carried by the member 12 when the members 12, 15 are pressed together by the handle members 17 against the action of the spring 16 to print duplicate marks 33 on the main sheet 5 and coupon 7, which is detached, inserted in the slot 29. The coupons are consecutively numbered between the bedplate 38a carried by the member 12 and the wheel 35 carried bv the shaft 34 mounted in the side-pieces 15a of the member 15 the shaft extending into a casing 36 carried by one of the side-pieces 13 of the member 12 and there carrying a ratchet wheel 37 co-operating with the pawl 38 carried by the casing 36 when the handles 17 are operated. Printing is prevented until the sheet and coupon are accurately positioned with respect to the marking devices by the sheet when so positioned tripping the member 30 pivoted at 31 and normally positioned by means of the spring 32 to co-operate with the lugs 28 on the side-pieces 15a of the member 15, Fig. 2, to prevent the members 12, 15 being pressed together. In the return to normal position the member 30 tends to eject the severed coupon. In a modification an ink ribbon 39, Fig. 8, is attached to winding and unwinding rollers 40, 41 and is positioned by guide elements 43. The cutting edges 23, 25, 26 may be serrated to prevent fraud, and if complete detachment of the marked coupon is not desired may be arranged to merely perforate or weaken the marginal portions of the coupons.
