[Class 61 (ii).] A device for checking employees' work by printing duplicate marks 52, 53 on a main sheet 47 and a detached coupon 48 consists of a hand-tool comprising two members 1, 2 of U cross section pivoted at 3 and urged apart by spring 4, the member 1 having pivoted to it at 14 the spring controlled member 13 carrying duplicate printing elements 20 and the pin 15 carrying the sleeve 16 with which co-operates the cam member 8 pivoted at 7 on member 2 to move the member 13 relative to member 1 into the printing position, and the member 2 having an extension 31 with side pieces and end piece 30 formed as cutters. These cooperate after the printing with the cutting edge 29 of the printing bed 21 carried by the slide 23 which has a slot 26 cooperating with the pivot 3 and which after printing is moved into the position shown in Fig. 6 by the pin 12 on the member 2 co-operating with the cam notch 28 on the members 1 and 2 being pressed together. To insert the sheet the portion 32 pivoted at 33 is rotated by pressure on the knob 38 and the sheet positioned in the slot 51 with the hole 46 in the coupon portion over the pin 45 and the holes 49 in the main portion over the projections 50 on the member 2 and, after printing and cutting, the detached coupon 48 falls into the detachable magazine 39 shown in detail in Fig. 10. The printing elements 20 can be replaced by suitably constructed type-wheels 56 cooperating with an inking roller 64 and arranged to print consecutive numbers by being actuated on each operation of the device by the pawl and ratchet arrangement shown. The cutting may be replaced by scoring, creasing, perforating, &c., and the printing by embossing.
