[Class 106 (iii)] Apparatus for storing and manually issuing pre-printed tickets comprises a magazine for holding a supply of tickets in a, continuous zig-zag or roll, locking means to prevent rearward movement of the ticket strip and manually releasable means for holding the ticket strip against forward movement past a tear-off point during tearing off of a ticket. In the described embodiment a zig-zag ticket strip 12, Fig. 3, passes over a roller 15 under rollers 16, 17 and between guides 43 to a tear-off point 14 at the edge of the base 8. A pawl 24, pivoted at 21, is spring-urged against the ticket strip to prevent rearward movement and a similar pawl 25, pivoted at 29 and urged by the same spring 33, prevents forward movement of the strip until a member 34 is rocked counterclockwise by a thumb or finger about its pivot 35, whereupon rod 38 on the member 34 engages an abutment 37 on the pawl 25 and lifts the latter out of engagement with the ticket strip which can then be pulled forward. The re-engagement of the pawl 25 is prevented by an arm 40, Fig. 4, integral with the member 34, and comprising a feeler 41 which rides on the surface of the ticket during the forward feeding, maintaining the counterclockwise displacement of the member 34. At the end of each ticket length, however, a perforation is provided which the feeler 41 enters, thus releasing the pawl 25 and locking the ticket strip against further movement during the tearing-off operation. A number of units, each for a different ticket denomination, may be arranged in columns and rows supported by rollers 48, Fig. 1. Spring-urged flaps 50 prevent the ingress of dust and provide surfaces for labelling the various ticket containers. Slots 54 in the outer casing co-operate with lugs on the removable units to provide quick-release locking means.
