Abstract
343,937. Combined step ladder and ironing board. HOKANSON, A. E. and WELLS, E. G., of X Chair Patents Co., Hayes, Middlesex. Nov. 25,1929, No. 36114. [Class 20 (ii).] Combined step ladders and ironing boards of the kind described in Specifications 21182/08, [Class 20, Buildings &c.], 3281/10 and 124,696, [both in Class 20 (ii), Buildings and structures, Miscellaneous accessories &c.], have the top step of the ladder portion of greater depth than the others and the top of the ironing board projects above the top of the ladder so as to form a hand-hold or knee-rest. In one form the ladder is formed of pivoted framed uprights 16, 18, the upright 16 being also pivoted at 14 to the under side of the ironing board 10 and the wide top step 25 being pivoted to the upright 16. This step acts as a stay, being pinconnected at 29 to the board when the combination is used as a step ladder. In a modification the step frames 31, 32 are pivoted at their tops to a platform 36 which serves as a top step and to which the ironing board 10 is also pivoted so that it may rest either on the top platform or against the frame 32, the frame being stayed by stays 34. The front of the board may be stayed by inclined stays 41 pivoted from the frame 32.
