Abstract
343,695. Closures for metal kegs &c. FRANCIS, J. H. E., Thames Ironworks, John Penn Street, Lewisham, London. Jan. 17, 1930, No. 1681. [Class 21.] A closure for a sheet metal drum, keg &c. e.g. for oil, consists of a thin metal, vulcanized fibre or paper capsule c, Figs. 2, 3, 4, and 5, adapted to be cut at'the part c<3> and secured in place by expanding at c<1> as in Figs. 2 and 3, or by soldering at x as in Figs. 4 and 5. The metal surrounding the closure is stepped as at a<1> and a<2> and a threaded sleeve b formed from a separate piece of thin metal is provided to take the tap. Packing washers d may be used for the capsules or the whole capsule may be coated with paper, fibre, indiarubber &c. to serve as packing.
