Abstract

343,593. Drying peat &c. EVANS, W.E.,27, Chancery Lane, London.-(Madruck Ges. fur Maschinelle Druckentwõsserung; 14, K÷nigstrasse, D³sseldorf, Germany.) Aug. 23, 1929, No. 27086/30. Divided on 338,950, [Class 50, Fuel, Manufacture of]. [Class 34 (ii).] To enable utilization of the waste heat in the vapours produced in peat &c. drying apparatus which has indirect heating and is continuously charged and discharged, the pressure is maintained slightly above atmospheric, and the charging and. discharging hoppers are maintained full of material thus preventing entry of air. The vapours are led to counter-current condensers, the warmed water from which is used for heating in another drying apparatus, where it passes the material in countercurrent. A pre-heater may be provided for this water, for use when starting operations, or for eliminating fluctuations in the water-content of the material to be dried.
