Abstract
343,486. Two - way repeaters. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Nov. 16, 1929, No. 35104. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1828. [Class 40 (iv).] An amplifier is rendered inoperative for voice frequencies by saturating it with a frequency outside the voice range. This frequency may result from a normal oscillation of the amplifier, which is prevented when voice Currents are to be passed. Fig. 1 shows the application to a two-way repeater with amplifiers V1, V2 controlled by echo-suppressors E2, E1. It is arranged that, by a defect of balance, the valves V1, V2 interact and sing at a frequency outside the range employed for voice transmission. Filters S1, S2 keep the singing frequency out of the lines L1, L2 and filters S3, S4 prevent it from affecting the echo-suppressors E1, E2. When speech arrives say from L1, V2 is disabled by E1 and the singing ceases.
