343,315. Making goods from rubber dispersions. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO., 1144, East Market Street, Akron, Ohio, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Park, C. R. ; 540, Berk Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, U.S.A.) Feb. 17, 1930, No. 5303. Convention date, May 14, 1929. [Classes 70 and 87 (ii).] Strips of rubber are formed from compounded latex or the like by extruding a number of thin strips into a coagulating bath and pressing the strips together to form a thicker strip. As shown, latex is extruded by gas pressure through slits 14 in the side of a closed tank 10 into a bath 16 of coagulant such as acetic acid or acetone. The strips are supported near the slits by rollers 17 and after passing through the bath are pressed together by rollers 18. The slits may be of different lengths, as shown in Fig. 2, to form strips of different cross sectional profile, e.g. as shown in Fig. 3, for tyre-tread stock.
