340,173. Putting rubber tags on laces. SCHOELER, A., 67, Untere Lichtenplatzer Strasse, Barmen, Germany. Feb- 27, 1930, No. 6569. [Class 43.] In processes for the production of laces with soft rubber tags, a mixture of concentrated latex and sulphur is applied at the end of the hollow lace, which is pressed into a needle-form in a heated mould, the mixture being transformed into soft rubber. In order to accelerate vulcanization a metal salt or oxide in alkaline solution may be added, together with a filler such as tannin, phenol or the like, and lampblack, ochre &c. to give colour. The mixture may be put into the lace in a fluid condition, allowed to dry, and then shaped by pressure. Alternatively, it may be rolled out and dried, either on a flat surface, or on paper or wadding with which it combines. The flat plate is then cut into rods or strips. The rods are inserted in the lace and united by a hot press mould, or in the case of strips, these are wound round the lace and similarly united to it.
