343,252. Electric clocks. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS-GES., 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin. Dec. 24, 1929, No. 39507. Convention date, Feb. 5. [Class 139.] In an electric clock with a synchronous motor and an auxiliary movement, the latter, which is wound by'the motor and actuates the hands only when the motor ceases to actuate the electric clock, runs continuously. The motor b drives the hands i, through gearing a, c, e, d (carried on e), g, h. Between the auxiliary movement P and this gearing is a differential, n being a planet wheel, and k, m sun wheels. k is fixed to shaft o and m is attached to bush q loose on shaft f. This bush also carries a ratchet wheel r and gear s. Planet n is carried in a second ratchet wheel t. Normally, whilst motor b is running and driving the hands, the motor attracts an armature v and pawl w locks ratchet b and sun wheel m, so that n rotates idly. When the current fails, v drops, wheels r, m are released, and part x engages wheel t carrying the planet n. The auxiliary P then drives the sun wheel m and wheels, s, d, g &c. to the hands.
