342,996. Power hammers. PNEUMATIC DROP HAMMER CO., 141, Milk Street, Boston, U.S.A. Nov. 12, 1929, No. 24002/30. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1928. Divided on 342,024. [Class 83 (iv).] A pneumatic drop hammer comprising a hammer head having extensions slidably mounted on two columns extending from the base and connected to the lower end of the piston rod of a piston reciprocable in a cvlinder mounted on a cross beam supported by the columns has the bearing members 6, 7 bored from the top and fitted with soft metal bushes 10, 11 resting on the shoulders 8, 9 at the bottom of the bores. The head 14 of the piston rod 4 is engaged in a recess in the hammer head 5 between a resilient rubber mass 15 and fibrous washers 16 retained in position by a block 17 rotatable to engage undercut recesses 20 in the walls of the recess 19 and locked by a taper pin 24 which is threaded at the top and fitted with a nut 25 for releasing it.
