529,885. Piston and cylinder apparatus. LEE, E. C. June 10, 1939, No. 17031. [Class 122 (i)] In piston and cylinder apparatus in which the piston 2 is fixed to a connecting rod 3 and has a spherical surface for contact with the cylinder 5, the contacting surfaces are of wood and of cork. The piston 2 may be rigidly glued to the end of a wooden connecting rod, or relative rotation may be provided by means of washers 3b, 3c and a pin 3d. The cork may form a lining for the cylinder or a rim for a metal piston, and the front of the piston may be dished.
