340,563. Shock-absorbers. TOWNSEND, C. M., 35, Beeches Road, West Bromwich, and MILLER, W. P., The Croft, Hampton-in-Arden, Warwickshire. Oct. 1, 1929, No. 29663. [Class 108 (iii).] In apparatus of the kind in which a doubleacting piston with an operating connection between its ends works in a double-ended cylinder, the piston is operated by a crank pin on the inner end of a rocker shaft mounted in a detachable bush applied to a side boring breaking into the cylinder. The connected pistons l<2> having cup leathers j<2> work in the cylinder a, the two ends of which are connected by passages d, e, provided with a screwadjusted throttling pin f. The rocker shaft n with crank pin n<2> is off-set slightly from the centre of the cylinders and is oscillated by an external arm q. The crank pin n<2> works in a block m which is slidable transversely in a recess between the pistons l<2>. The assembly including the bush o, the rocker shaft, the crank pin and the operating arm is removable as a unit.
