[Class 138 (ii).] In a wringer which is pivotally mounted on a tie-rod extending between two sides of a cabinet, means are provided to lock the machine in a vertical operative position and against longitudinal movement on the tie-rod. A bar H forming part of the wringer A, on to which the wringer is clamped at K, is formed with a groove L along its lower edge which engages the tie-rod F. Brackets M prevent separation of the groove and tie-rod. A bracket N is secured to one side of the cabinet and is provided with ears T and a bifurcated portion R pivoted at P. The shaft D of the lower roller rests in the bifurcated member R when the latter is raised as shown and holds the machine upright, whilst a locking bar U is inserted through registering apertures in the ears T and bar H to lock the machine and prevent longitudinal movement thereof. In a modification the bracket N is secured outside the cabinet rendering the locking bar U unnecessary, any oscillating or longitudinal movement of the wringer being prevented by the hand crank which is secured to the lower roller shaft projecting beyond the bracket.
