Abstract

Tyre-covers are shaped and consolidated by heat and pressure, for example in an ordinary vulcanizing mould; they are then removed and vulcanized, or the vulcanization is completed by heating them in water under a pressure higher than that of saturated steam at the vulcanizing temperature. The water may be kept in motion to ensure equality of temperature, and it may carry in solution substances which increase its density to just below that of the article treated. The pressure may be increased by admitting compressed air to the surface of the water in an autoclave. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) is not limited as to the medium in which the articles are vulcanized, nor as to the pressure employed. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
