Abstract

341,029. Pulverulent-fuel burners. GARREAU, H., 6, Rue Calmels, Paris. July 5, 1929, No. 20720. Convention date, Feb. 28. [Class 75 (i).] Apparatus for delivering a mixture of pulverulent fuel and air to a furnace for combustion in the interstices between material piled in the combustion chamber comprises a diffusion chamber 23, Figs. 1 and 3, having one or more inlet pipes 24 for the mixture of fuel and air and a screen 25 arranged in front of the pipe or pipes 24 constituting lateral channels 27, 28 having controlling dampers 26. A modified form of the apparatus for use with a tilting or rotary furnace is shown in Fig. 5. The fuel and air supply pipe 34 is provided with a spigot 33 adapted to engage with a socket 32 attached to the diffusion chamber 23 arranged on the axis of the furnace. The joint allowing rotation of the furnace may be provided between the combustion chamber 30 and the diffusion chamber 23. In a further modification a distributing box is arranged on the furnace side of the joint 32, 33 supplying several diffusion chambers 23.
