339,754. ProgrÞs Mecanique, (Assignees of Loew et Michas). Nov. 14, 1928, [Convention date]. Bush and like extractors. - A device for extracting bearings from their mountings has a split collet caused to grip the inner surface of the bearing by means of a pyramidal &c. member co-operating with the collet mounted on a screw-formed member, and upwardly displacable therewith. A split collet comprises sections 14 carrying projections 15 to engage under the bearing, each section having a V-groove to receive an oblique edge of a pyramidal member 3 held on a reduced portion of a screw 1. The sections are maintained in position by a ring 18 engaging projections 17 therreon, and are formed with conical ends to engage a similarly formed nut 4 on the screw 1. A second nut 5 rotatable by handles 9 bears oh a member 6 slidable on the screw and supported by columns 11 whose feet 13 rest around the bearing and whose upper ends are formed to slide in grooves 10 for radial adjustment. The nut 4 is tightened to force the projections 17 beneath the bearing by means of the pyramidal member 3. After inserting the supports 11, rotation of the nut 5 effects the extraction of the bearing. For external bearings the device is converted to one of known form by replacing the collet by a conical member 19, Fig. 4, to engage the centre of the bearing shaft, the feet 13 being placed under the bearing, and the removal effected by tightening the nut 4 against the member 6.
