Abstract
417,349. Centrifugal honey extractors. DAW, H., Rosemount, Pednor Vale, Chesham, Buckinghamshire. July 11, 1933, No. 19581. [Class 23.] The rotary cage 12 of a honey extractor is supported in bearings 9, 11 carried on spiders 8, 10, and is enclosed by the cylindrical casing 1 which is open at its lower end so that the honey can drop into the lower drum 2. A collar 3 has an external rim resting on the top of the drum 2, and a contracted upper part on which rests the head 6 at the base of the upper casing 1. The collar can be removed while the casing 1 is stowed within the drum 2 for transport ; the collar can then be replaced at the top of the drum 2 and serves to support a lid. In use the apparatus is supported by a stand formed by a pair of members 17, 18 arranged at right angles. The lower member 17 is grooved to receive the member 18 and has recesses 19 for the feet 20 on the bottom of the drum 2. The drum is held securely in position by the adjustable tie members 23. The member 17 is of a springy nature and may be composed of two wooden strips secured together, the lower of which has been warped by steaming, or it may be composed wholly or partly of metal. The cage is rotated manually through gearing 15.
