Abstract

337,658. Electrical Apparatus Co., Ltd., Barbour, R. H., and Walton, J. R. Dec. 11, 1929. Master control; controllers, retarding.- One or more contactors constituting a motor control system have their closing delayed by a mechanical escapement which is directly controlled by a pendulum, the escapement being connected to the moving member of either the contactor or an auxiliary switch such as a drum controlling the circuit of the contactor. A bar h is pivoted to the contact-lever d, and has rack teeth &c. engaging a pinion l. The spindle n carries a spur wheel o meshing with a pinion q fixed to an escapement wheel r, the movement of which is controlled by an adjustable pendulum t. Closure of the contactor is initially retarded by the pendulum t until a recessed part of the bar h slides over the pinion l, the final closing movement being rapidly performed. On opening under gravity, the teeth k slide over those of the pinion l. The device is also applicable to the system described in Specification 202,509.
