Abstract

Regulating-switches; switches, interlocking.-Relates to the use in pairs of regulating-switches each controlling a separate circuit and so connected together as to prevent the passage of more than a predetermined total current through the circuits. The switch arms 8, 9 are operatively connected to one another by pinions 12, 13 engaging racks 18, 19 the arrangement being such that neither arm can be moved from its off-contact or from some other predetermined contact to increase the current in its circuit without moving the other arm to cut off any excess of current in the other circuit. In the construction shown, the arm 8 is rigidly fixed by a screw 14 to the pinion 12, the arm 9 carries a pin 15 moving in a slot 16 in the pinion 13, and the racks are rigidly connected by a strip 20. In a modification, each pinion is rigidly fixed to the corresponding switch arm, and the racks are connected by a pin-and-slot device.
