Abstract

337,522. Barlow, E. Sept. 5, 1929. Hinge and swivelling joints.-A flexible pipe is formed of a series of tubular members 1 each of which is preferably of conical shape and has an outwardly directed flange 2 at the smaller end and an inwardly directed flange 3 at the larger end, the smaller end of the member being adapted to fit into the larger end of the adjacent member with the flanges abutting against each other. The flanges are of helical form and are each provided with a gap 4 so that when brought together they may interengage by relative rotation. The invention is particularly applicable to the suction pipes of grain &c. conveyers, the pipe formed as above being enclosed in an outer casing of flexible material.
