Abstract

336,998. Raistrick, H. April 22, 1929. Splitting-machines.-In a fleshing machine the hides are fed by a spiked roll 4, in conjunction with backing roll 12 pressed by a rubber roll 14, on to a band or reciprocating knife 17. The spiked roll comprises spiked bushes strung upon a shaft 2 and held by an axial spring to allow of slipping. The axial spikes 8 are arranged at an angle to the radius of the roll and are shaped to enable the outer ends to bite into the flesh. The shaft 2 is adjustable by an eccentric 22. Clearing fingers 20 detach the flesh from the spiked roll. A guard 18 covers the hide side of the knife.
