Periodic counter and like speed-indicators.-Comprises a measuring and indicator setting part both controlled from a time spindle by means of a cam disc in which a double-armed control lever influenced by a control disc periodically couples the measuring part comprising a coupling disc, sleeve, and ratchet wheel to driving means and locks and releases the setting part, consisting of a toothed wheel, a boss, a second toothed wheel, and a bevel wheel to set the speed indicating hand. The spindle 2 driven from the shaft, the speed of which is required, drives through bevel wheels 4, worm 3, and a worm wheel 6 a spindle 5 carrying a wheel 7, and at the same time continually winds a spring contained in a drum 33 which drives through an escapement and gears 34 - - 36, the shaft 37 carrying a cam disc 38 which rocks the doublearmed control lever 18, 42 about a pivot 40. Loosely mounted on the spindle 5 is the measuring part comprising wheels 8 and 10 integral with the sleeve 9, and the setting part consisting of a toothed wheel 21 integral with a sleeve 22 carrying a toothed wheel 27 which through the rack 28 actuates a recording mechanism, and a bevel wheel 29 actuating the pointer 32 through the bevel wheel 30. The wheels 10, 21 mesh with toothed wheels 11, 23 respectively, Fig. 3, tending under the action of springs 14, 24 to turn the wheels 10, 21 in opposition to the drive wheel 7. The lateral ratchet teeth of wheels 10, 21 are engaged by pawls 44, 45, Fig. 4, spaced by a member 46. Operation. With the cam disc 38 in the position shown, the measuring part M is rotated by the drive 7, 8. The cam 39<1>, Fig. 3, first operates and by means of lever 18, 42 declutches the measuring part M, which is held by the pawl 44, the pawl 45 being pushed out of engagement with wheel 21, allowing the latter to return until the pins 19, 20 are in contact, when the pointer is set. Cam 39<2> next operates to move the measuring part slightly to the left when the setting part is held by the pawl 45, the pawl 44 freeing the measuring part, which returns to zero. When the cam 39<2> is passed the drive 7, 8 is again made for the next measurement.
