Abstract

336,644. Pugh, A. L. June 20, 1929. Plug couplings.-A telephone plug has encased within its shank 11 and insulated therefrom a removable resistance. The resistance comprises a conductive film on a glass filament 28 which is carried in a porcelain tube 26 the ends of which are secured in metal caps 21, 22 by a layer of soft metal 29 such as tin and by a filling of type metal 30. The melting point of the type-metal is between that of the tin and the metal caps. The ends of the filament 28 extend beyond the tube 26 into the type metal. At one end 21 the resistance carries a screwed plug tip 18 and at the other end a contact member 14. The said member is held by a round faced nut 33 to allow of alignment of the resistance within the shank 11.
