The surface is obtained by heating the copper electrode in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1,000‹ 0 and immersing it in a solution of ammonium or zinc chloride to produce a rough, crystalline surface. In the cell the electrode is embedded in beeswax and resin 6, and exposed in an electrolyte 5 such as ammonium chloride.' Specification 318,641 is referred to.
