Abstract
335,953. Eugene, Ltd., and Kropacsy, C. May 4, 1929. Strap, chain, or cord fastenings.-A device for tightening a binding cord, especially applicable for binding the lower end of a sachet around a tress in waving hair as described in Specification 177,995, [Class 131, Toilet &c.], consists of a hollow body with a transverse slot at one end, the ends of a cord forming the loop to be tightened being passed through the body and gripped in the slot. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, the aperture through the body a opens out towards the front and there are lateral slots a<2> at the rear, the portions forming the slots being turned outwardly to constitute abutments a<3>. One end of the cord b may be knotted and held in one slot a<2>, while tension is applied to the other end with the aid of the abutments a<3> so that the loop is tightened as required. The second end is then caught and held in the second slot. In the form shown in Figs. 3 and 4, there are separate passages through the body for the two ends of the cord. A tightening instrument similar to a glove stretcher may be employed with the device for putting additional tension on the cord.
