Materials used in construction. - Pump impellers and linings, made from manganese iron or steel alloys containing 10-15 per cent of manganese are cold worked by rolling, pressing, hammering &c. before being put into service, on those portions which are normally exposed to wear and subject to self-conditioning, in order to prevent this self-conditioning taking place in use.
