Abstract
334,511. Landt, C. May 30, 1929. Trouser and like presses.-A garment press in the form of an ordinary article of bedroom furniture such as chair, stool or small table, consists of a movable top, forming the seat bottom &c., and a fixed board between which the garment is pressed, clamping means for the ends of the garment being provided at the sides of the chair &c. In the construction shown a seat bottom 7 is hinged to a board 2, rounded off at its sides 5, and is fastened down upon the board by levers 8 engaging keyhole openings 9. The legs of the chair carry clamping bars 12 engaging inclined slots 11 so that when the bars are raised the ends of the garments are clamped between the bars 12 and the connecting bars 10 of the legs. The clamping members 12 may be replaced by hinged flaps &c. The back of the chair may have a shaped top 4 to receive a coat. The fastening levers 8 may be mounted on springs to yield in an upward direction. The hinge 6 may be omitted and the seat bottom &c. 7 secured by elastic clamping devices at its corners. The seat bottom &c. 7 and the board 2 may be fitted with heating means, preferably electrical, for ironing the garment.
