Abstract

333,025. Bagnall, E. July 8, 1929. Laminated springs.- With the object of damping vibrations the friction between the leaves is increased by clamping means comprising a one-piece lever 6 extending longitudinally of the spring, as shown in Fig. 1, the ends of the lever bearing on one side of the spring and a strap 5 supporting the middle of the lever !bearing upon the opposite side. The pressure exerted may be adjusted by the screw 8. In a modification shown in Figs. 7 and 9, the adjusting screw 15 is combined with the strap 14. Balls 17, 18 working with a certain amount of freedom in spherical recesses in the lever form the end abutments. Constructions showning modifications of the lever and the position of the adjusting screw are illustrated.
