Abstract

332,554. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., and Minett, W. T. April 22, 1929. Pounding-up. - Relates to pounding-up machines of the kind described in Specifications 16589/08 and 28172/09, and known as Rex Rotary pounding- up machines, and consists in a last-pin carrier adapted to support a last during the pounding of the heel part of a shoe and extending over the machine from a mounting at the rear of the latter, which counting urges the carrier rearwardly to draw the shoe into the angle between the drum and side beater. The last pin 43 is considerably smaller, in diameter, than the usual last pin hole,. The pin is clamped to an arm 41 loosely pivoted at 35 to one arm of a bell crank lever 25 the other arm of which is connected by a rod 27 and spring 31 with a treadle. The carrier is urged upwardly by a light spring 39 to a central inoperative position determined by a yoke 51, the upper portion of which is shaped as an inverted V. Specification 314,815 also is referred to.
