Seamed joints.-In a " book-form savings box the boundary edges of the bottom and lid are doubled back, and flexible covering material, adhesively secured to the bottom and lid, is turned inwardly over the doubled-back portions, which latter are subsequently turned over in a reverse direction and clinched on to the base flanges of angle-plates constituting the sides of the box. The bottom a, Fig. 1, and back c are formed from a metal blank, the edges being doubled back as at a<2> and the extreme edges then turned up at right angles to the bottom, the corners being cut away as required. Side walls d<2> provided with right angle base flanges terminating in an upwardly turned edge d<4> are formed from a blank or strip of metal and placed on the doubled-back portions of the bottom with the edge d' adjacent the upright flange of the bottom. This latter flange is then clinched down over the edge d' giving the construction shown. The lid e is flanged in a similar manner to the bottom. A leather or other flexible covering h lies under the base flange of the walls d<2> and is adhesively secured to the doubled-back portions. According to the Provisional Specification, the base flange of the walls d<2> may be seated in a depression in the doubled-back portions.
