332,159. Fery, C. J. V. Nov. 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Electric clocks; balances; escapements. - An electric clock has a magnetic balance formed of two six-poled magnets 2 spaced apart and coacting with two fixed coils B<1>, B<2> the circuit of which is completed by a pin 16 (preferably gold or aluminium bronze) on the balance making electric contact with a fork 6 (preferably of stainless steel), which is pivoted at 7 and is integral with the anchor 12 having pallets 35, 36 which co-operate with the escape wheel E. Pivot 11 of the scape wheel, pivot 7, and pivot 26 of the balance are in a line. A spring 13 extends from a fixed point 34 on the same line to a pin 33 on fork 6 so as to jerk the anchor each side of the dead centre as the pin 16 knocks the prongs of the fork in turn. The coils B<1>, B<2> are fixed at 28, 29 to the pillars 24 so that they may be removed without disturbing other parts. 30 is the balance spring. On each member 2 the six poles are named alternately and each pole is opposite a pole of opposite name on the other member 2. Wheels, pinions, and arbors.-Since the circuit for the energizing coils is through the balance 2, the staff 26 is mounted at 32 upon an insulating stone or on an insulated metallic support.
