Abstract
331,936. Bellingroth, F. April 17, 1929. Cylinder machines; rolling; lubricating.-In machines having a rotary drum c with pockets d containing pistons e the radially-extending rods r of which have externally-projecting rollers x engaging adjustable guides and move the pistons in succession to suck in a quantity of dough from a hopper a, the guides are so shaped at C<1>, C<2> that the pistons execute a further inward movement as the pockets pass an arcuate working or forming surface G concentric with the drum, thus allowing the portions to be rolled into balls, which may be clischarged on to further working surfaces A<5>. The hopper a is provided with a cutting edge b and the drum c is divided by triangular pieces c<2> into the measuring chambers d within which reciprocate the pistons e having the lateral piston rods r. The adjustable guides A, C, C<1>, C<2>, D are each in parts connected together by bolts t' and slots B. The guides A, C are connected at y<1>, y<2> with the machine frame and at the other end are rigid with an adjustable sliding block B<2> carrying the guides C<1>, C<2> fixed at their other ends to an adjustable sliding block B<3> from which the guide D leads back to the point y<2>. Cross-bars F<1> connect together the slide blocks at either side of the drum and the blocks are adjusted by hand wheels F to regulate the capacity of the chambers d. The pistons comprise a body part P, Fig. 4, and a part O<1> having supports O guided in borings in the body part, springs i tending to separate the parts. In operation the part O<1> is pressed down to compress a felt cover n on the body part P and retained by a hollow bolt p passed through holes l<1> in the supports O and a channel l in the body part. When it is desired to adjust the machine for other sizes of dough pieces the bolts p are removed. allowing the springs i to raise the part 0' over the edge of the drum c so that it can be gripped and the complete piston removed, pawls k on the body part P engaging the holes l<1> in the supports O. In the body part P of the pistons air channels v are arranged controlled by non-return valves to conduct away air which escapes from the dough. For small loaves guide members g are inserted in the measuring-chambers and a number of piston members, Fig. 6, actuated by each pair of rods r. As the drum c rotates an oil scoop s dips into an adjustable oil container t and supplies oil through the hollow bolts p and passages o to the felts n of the pistons. The device for further working of the dough comprises frames B<4>, Fig. 10, rotatable on pins D<4> and oscillated by a crank disc Q<4> and each carrying three pulleys driving bands A<4>, A<5> running over vertical guide rollers K<4> and a horizontal guide roller H<4> respectively so as to form a working channel into which the ball of dough drops from the pocket. Another endless band is arranged over the working channels and the worked pieces are received on a board.
