Igniters combined with cigarette cases; pocket igniters, frictional. - A pocket cigarette case adapted to be operated with one hand to ignite and partly eject a cigarette, comprises two slidable sections shown in Figs. 3 and 5, cigarettes being contained in the section shown in Fig. 5, and pressed by a spring 24, 25 so that the end cigarette rests on a heel 22, Fig. 2, of a pyrophoric igniter 40 pivoted in the other section. Relative sliding of the two sections to the position shown in Fig. 2 partially ejects a cigarette and also moves a spring-controlled tooth 55, Fig. 7, on the igniter past a cam-spring 57 so that when the sliding movement is reversed a spark is produced by friction elements 49, 53 which ignites a wick 43, the flame issuing through an opening 61 and igniting the cigarette which is left in a projecting position. A door 33, Fig. 2, carrying an extinguisher 44 is normally held closed by a fastening 59, 60 which is released when the sections are slid from each other so that the door opens to admit air.
