16,166. Herrmann, F. July 12. Pocket igniters, frictional.-Relates to igniters having a slidable spring- pressed cover, with a normally - closed aperture for inserting a cigar &c. The cover 6 slides between the fuel container 1 and an outer casing 4, between which is housed a spring 5, which lifts the cover when a catchspring 7 is released by pressing a stud 8. The cover 6 has apertures 13, 14 for the escape of products of combustion and the admittance of air. The friction surface 3 slopes from the fuel container to the wall of the cover, and its teeth only bite on the upward movement of the pyrophoric metal 17, which is carried by a spring 16 attached to the cover. The cover is prevented from rotation by a pin 9 and a pin on the catch-spring 7, which slide in grooves in the casing 4. Screws 10 or spring pins prevent the removal of the cover.
