Abstract

331,674. Kaselitz, O., and Kali-Forschungs-Anstalt Ges. Jnne 17, 1929. Sodium sulphate.-Sulphates containing little or no water of crystallization are produced by heating concentrated solutions thereof to temperatures at which the solubility becomes practically nil, for instance, about 200‹ C., separating the salt and liquor mixture without any appreciable reduction in pressure, and recovering the heat energy contained in the liquors. In the place of saturated solutions, the crystallized sulphates may be used with or without the addition of previous mother liquors. The process of the invention is applicable to Glauber's salt. Soluble impurities are removed in the mother liquors, which are in part or wholly discarded after the recovery of the heat energy contained therein. for instance, as steam.
