Abstract

331,448. Stringham, W. Sept. 30, 1929. Cross-rolling.-In a process of finishing wide thin pieces of metal, of less thickness and greater width than a sheet bar and wider than they are long, the pieces are rolled in pairs in a direction transverse to their greater dimension and are then rolled as a pack of four pieces. When the sheets are convex they are heated in packs of four, rolled in pairs transversely to their length, and then rolled without re-heating in packs of four to the desired length.
