356,262. Rolling sheets. AMERICAN ROLLING MILL CO., 703, Curtis Avenue, Middletown, Ohio, U.S.A. June 5, 1930, No. 17475. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1929. [Class 83 (iv).] Flat sheets of substantial width and of relatively thin gauge are produced in a three-high rolling mill by passing hot rough sheets first between the small middle and large lower rolls and then back between the middle and upper rolls until reduced to dimensions suitable for matching, whereupon two or more pieces are matched and the rolling continued in the same manner. The rough plates are passed from a continuous furnace 1 to a table 2 then between the lower rolls 3, 4 to a rocking table 5 which may be mechanically operated, the plates are then passed back between the middle and upper rolls and the process continued without reheating. A water spray 7 is provided for cooling the rolls.
