Abstract
465,560. Endless - belt conveyers. WILLIAMS, W. P. (American Rolling Mill Co.) Sept. 18, 1936, No. 25481. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] Rough plates from a furnace 10 are automatically delivered at timed intervals by a conveyer 11 to a conveyer 12 to trip a flag switch 21, 22, until a counterweighted stop 23 arrests the blank to match a pair of sheets (if desired) between side guide matchers 20 after which the automatically controlled power cylinder 24 and ram 25 force the plate over the stop 23 into the rolling mill 38. The plate coming from the rolls depresses a flag switch 27, 28, until it passes up between the driven chains 26 which are tilted and reversed when the flag switch is released to screw down the roll pass and then to pass the plate back through the top pass of the mill. The plate then passes between pinch rolls 30, 31, to a conveyer 32 which feeds it back under the lower pinch roll 31 to a guide 33 which directs it clear of the blank stopper 23, and into the lower roll pass which has been reset a predetermined amount when the plate tripped a second time the switch 27, 28 with delay action on leaving the conveyers 26. The work is then delivered to a feed table where it may be passed and repassed through a similar 3-high or 4-high cold or hot finishing mills, or it may pass on to a pack matching feed table 42 and pass through sets of cold mills 45 and 50. Other sequences of passes comprising repeated return passes through a mill followed or preceded by ordinary passes.
