Creeping of rails, preventing.-Creepanchors comprise a spring metal bar with a resilient hook 19 embracing one edge 10 of the rail flange and engaging an angular fillet 16 on the rail between the web 15 and flange, the other end of the anchor consisting of a lug 25 engaging the other edge 11 of the rail flange. As the anchor is forced onto the rail, the bend shortens and the base lengthens until the lug 25 snaps up into locking-position with the part 24 in engagement with the rail base. The central part 22 is arched to provide a sleeper abutment. The anchor also engages the rail base at 23, but is clear of the edge 10 of the flange. The engage ment at 23 may be omitted when the fillet angle is steep as in Fig. 7.
