Abstract

329,539. Cady Engineering Co., E. L., and Cady, E. L. June 13, 1929. Carding engines.-The stripping of fibres from the doffer of a carding machine used for carding asbestos, wood pulp, and other material of short staple is effected by members 20, Fig. 7, interposed between the rows of teeth of the card clothing strips. The members 20 are supported at thedr ends between upper and lower rings 23, 22 situated between the strips, and below these rings pins 30 parsing through the shell of the doffer are supported on an interior cylinder 25, Fig. 1, mounted eccentrically to and rotating with the doffer in such a way that the members are retracted adjacent the main cylinder 11 and are pushed outwards to lift the fibres free of the doffer teeth ready to pass as bands to the condensers 19. A roller 32 compresses the fibres before the transfer.
