Abstract

329,505. Turner, W. May 15, 1929. Pneumatic-tyre pressure gauges.-Comprises a particular construction of the kind which is applied directly to the valve nipple after removal of the cap. The pressure cylinder a has screwed into one end an enlarged cap b provided with a recess to receive an indiarubber washer e. This recess has a central aperture f through which a pin g passes and is screwed into the opposite wall of the part b. The outer end of this pin projects beyond the washer e to form a valve depressor. A clearance is provided between the pin g and washer e to throttle the entrance of air to the gauge. One end of a tension spring h is anchored to the pin g the other end being screwed on to a thread cut on the stem of the piston i this providing an adjustable connection. The piston has a cup-leather j and is coned at the end engaging loosely the friction-tight cylindrical head l of an indicator stem k of triangular cross-section which passes through the aperture o<1> in the cap o. A hole n is provided in the head l to break any possible vacuum between the head l and piston i.
