Abstract

329,212. Wilson, W. F. June 27, 1929. Cutting vegetables.-A macline of the type in which vegetables pass down a hopper to a rotary cutter at the base has the hopper 4 subdivided by a diametral fin 7 extending from top to bottom of the hopper, a plunger 10 to press the vegetables down on the cutter being made in halves arranged one on each side of the fin. The halves of the plunger are carried by vertical rods 11 guided in a vertical bracket 12 and actuated through links 14 connected to pivoted levers 15 by a handle 17. The plungers may be retracted from the hopper and swung clear thereof to permit the hopper to be charged. The hopper itself is pivotally mounted on the frame so that it can be moved sideways to permit the knife to be altered on the cutter. Switches automatically cut off the current to the cutter driving motor 3 when either the hopper is being charged or the knife changed.
