Abstract

Bodies.-In a method of manufacturing motor vehicle bodies from material consisting of resilient mesh embedded in rubber, the mesh is first shaped to the form required, and covered on each side with rubber so that the rubber fills the interstices of the mesh, and the whole combination is then vulcanized. The mesh may be of mineral fibre, animal fibre, such as cat-gut, or vegetable fibre such as Japanese or Panama grass, and may be reinforced. Lugs, fittings, or the like may be secured to the mesh before the whole is vulcanized. Figs. 3 and 4 show a portion of the material in the preferred form having the reinforced mesh a, c embedded in the rubber b. Fabric and asbestos may be incorporated in the material.
