Discharging and feeding devices for endless-belt conveyers; driving-gear.-In the feeding of biscuits and the like from a continuously operating cutting or moulding machine to a continuously moving conveyer, the rows of biscuits are divided into groups or batches, with or without a variation of the spacing between consecutive rows, by the aid of a reciprocating panning device which delivers to a continually moving intermediate conveyer. The panner blade 4 of the cutting machine is mounted on a wheeled carriage 5 having a pair of depending arms 6 connected by links 7 to rocking beams 8 mounted upon a rock shaft 9. The links are connected to the beams by sliding blocks having adjusting screws 10 whereby the amplitude of the reciprocations of the carriage 5 and blade 4 may be varied. A lever 14 mounted on the shaft 9 is connected to an arm 13, the free end of which is forked and rides over a roller 15 on a cam shaft 16. A roller 12 on the arm 13 engages a cam 11 on the shaft 16. The speed of the band 7 is approximately the same as that of the blade 4, but it may be allowed a slight forward creep with respect to the blade when on its forward stroke. A transfer band 19, provided between the blade 4 and the oven pans 40, is driven from the shaft 16 through spur gearing 29, chain and sprocket gear 26, 27, 28 and a roller 20. By means of guide wheels 30 the chain 27 is arranged with oppositely disposed bights 31, 32 passing around wheels 33 on a reciprocating carriage 34. A sliding block 35 connects the carriage 34 to a lever 36 which is pivoted at 37 and connected by a link 38 to a rocking quadrant 39 keyed on the shaft 9.
